If you’re driving your car and suddenly find that the battery won’t charge, you probably don’t know what’s wrong. Most likely you’ll just assume that the battery needs to be replaced. But this isn’t necessarily the case. In fact, if you haven’t checked out your car’s charging system in a long time, you may have a serious problem that you’ve never even considered.
The first thing you should check is whether your car’s charging system is working properly. You can start by checking the lights and gauges on the dashboard. If everything looks good, then you can turn to the battery itself.
If the battery is completely dead and alternator not charging battery, you might want to consider replacing it. But if the battery is just low, you can try a few other things to get your car’s charging system working again.
First, you can test the battery’s voltage. To do this, you’ll need a multimeter. With the multimeter in hand, turn on your car’s ignition. Then hold the multimeter in place over the battery and look for the red and black volt meter to be at the top of the scale.
The voltage you see on the meter should be somewhere around 14.8 volts. If you see less than this, you may have a weak battery. If you see more than this, then you have a good battery.
If the voltage is between 12 and 14.8, you can try to increase the battery’s voltage by adding a jumper. This is done by connecting a wire between the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the battery.
Once you have a good, strong battery, you can try to recharge the battery using your car’s charging system. To do this, you’ll need a fully charged battery.
To do this, you’ll need to turn off the ignition and remove the battery. Then, connect the new battery to the car’s positive terminal and the other end to the car’s negative terminal.
While you’re doing this, make sure that your car has enough power to charge the battery. You can test this by looking for a full charge light on the dashboard. If you don’t see this light, you’ll need to wait until you have enough power to charge the battery.
Once the battery is fully charged, you can turn the ignition back on. If your battery starts charging right away, you’ll need to disconnect the battery and the new battery before it finishes charging.
Once you’ve finished charging the battery, you can try to re-charge it again. The process should be pretty similar to the process above.
If alternator not charging battery and still you have trouble getting your car’s charging system to work, you can contact a professional. If your car is older than 25 years, you can call a local auto repair shop and ask them about the issue. If the car is newer than that, you can search online for reviews and ratings from other consumers.
