Every home gets dirty. While there is more than one way to clean an entire house—may it be an apartment, a townhouse, or a beach house—there will always be a smarter way to finish the task. From scrubbing the living room floors squeaky clean and keeping the kitchen dust-free, to calling a rooting service provider for your bathroom, this blog post has you covered. Below is a guided list of basic cleaning tips to help you clean your home thoroughly, efficiently, and quickly.

1. Move around while you vacuum. No one can get into every corner and nook in just one pass. Keep moving through the entire house or room as you run the vacuum. Just keep passing through areas you think are prone to getting dusty.

2. Mopping after vacuuming is always effective. Make sure that you finish vacuuming the floors before you start mopping. This way, you’ll remove dust and dirt and wet dirty floors. When you mop, start from the corner of the room and make your way back to the doorway to ensure that you get into every part of the entire flooring.

3. Use a duster. Many of us overlook the importance of a soft and fluffy dust cleaner. We suggest a microfiber duster because it works better in removing and catching dust than regular ones. There are also expendable dust removers in the market that works wonders for small and hard-to-reach areas. Concentrate your dusting on the undersides of cabinets and shelves, backs of furniture and appliances, the insides of fans and AC units, and window blinds.

4. Clear the clutter. Pick up the clutter before you start cleaning. Place them in their respective spaces containers as you pick each one. This will make the cleaning process way easier.

5. Wipe mirrors, glassware, and windows. Mirrors and glassware are often overlooked when cleaning. Give them a good wipe to remove dust and keep everything clean and shiny. If your house has glass windows or doors, use a damp cloth to wipe all over and then buff them with a dry cloth afterward.

6. Disinfect mostly touched surfaces and objects. Wipe down countertops, kitchen cabinets, bookshelves, closet handles, desks, and other surface areas around the house. Don’t forget to disinfect TV and AC unit remotes, telephones, light switches, doorknobs, and objects that are touched most of the time.

You can use a store-bought disinfectant, or you can also make your own cleaning solution at home. Mix a half cup of white vinegar, a tablespoon of baking soda, and a cup of water in a spray bottle, and then shake well. This is an effective DIY mixture that is toxic-free and safe to use.

7. Check your sinks, tubs, and toilets. Make sure your drainage system is working properly. It is essential to check them regularly to ensure that there are no clogged drains at home.

If you start to notice slow flushes on the toilet, experience water bubbling on your drain, or smell anything funky from your bathroom or kitchen, call a plumbing and rooting service company right away. Keeping your pipeline unclogged and working is part of maintaining the overall cleanliness of your home.

8. Keep all house cleaning tools together. Don’t waste your time looking for tools while you clean. Have a specific bucket or caddy where you can put everything you need for cleaning. Keep your towels, microfiber cloths, scrubbing brush, sponge, squeegee, and spray bottle altogether in one place. This way, it will be a lot easier and handy to grab your cleaning tools whenever you need to clean a specific area at home.

9. Wash your cleaning tools. After every use, wash your tools with warm soapy water. Dry them properly and put them back tidily to where you keep them. Tidying your cleaning tools will make your next cleaning task more efficient and with less time-consuming.

10. Enjoy the process of cleaning. Tidying up, organizing, and cleaning generally requires a lot of effort, time, and energy. Some tasks may take up to more than an entire day to complete. To make household cleaning feel like less of a chore, find ways to have fun and enjoy the process. Play your favorite tunes (you can even dance if no one is around!) as you wipe down tables, mop the floor, or wash dishes. Give yourself a break for every accomplished task throughout the day; or a reward that you can look forward to after your cleaning task.
